Dillinger Sang
03:16
|
|||
They say that Dillinger Sang
Whilst fleeing justice in the Sheriff's sedan.
Could she have known about his getaway plan
When Dillinger sang?
When Dillinger smiled
Those cheeky press boys were completely beguiled.
And law abiding matrons nearly went wild
When Dillinger smiled.
Oh, Lady In Red.
How could you lead him on
With the things that you said-
Bringin' J. Edgar Hoover's boys gunnin' for John
Dillinger cried, outside The Biograph
The day that he died.
One single icy tear welled up from inside,
When Dillinger died.
Oh, Lady In Red.
You sold him out with lies.
They'd come for his head!
How could you walk away
Without any goodbyes?
Dillinger cried, outside The Biograph
The day that he died.
One single icy tear welled up from inside,
When Dillinger died.

Oh, sorrow!
You shouldn'ta borrowed.
Milwaukee Phil is coming tomorrow.
Oh, sorrow.
You shouldn'ta borrowed.
Milwaukee Phil is coming for ya.
Too many bets down at the neighorhood bar--
Now you're hogtied in the trunk of that Cadillac car.
Too many bets down at the neighborhood bar--
Now you're going for a ride- and it won't be far.
Oh, sorrow!
You shouldn'ta borrowed.
Milwaukee Phil is coming for you.
Oh, sin!
Your horse didn't win- again.
Milwaukee Phil and
a bat upside the shin!
Too many bets down at The Hiawatha--
You're hogtied in the trunk,
Detective's wipin' a swath o'
Blood from off your forehead for
a piece of evidence-
Goddamn, old Felix is cold...
(Throughout the 1950's and '60's, Felix Alderisio operated as the Mob's foremost hitman in the Chicago arena. Following a brief stint as mob boss in the late '60's, Alderisio was caught red handed during a hit, by a white-capped traffic cop, and taken into custody. Shortly following his incarceration, Alderisio died mysteriously of an apparent heart attack. A picture of perfect health before his arrest, it is speculated by mob enthusiasts and syndicate historians alike, that Felix "Milwaukee Phil" Alderisio died at the hands of federal hitmen working within the penal system. To this day, the location of Milwaukee Phil's millions remains a mystery.)
Oh, sorrow!
You shouldn'ta borrowed.
Milwaukee Phil is coming for you.
Oh, sorrow!
You shouldn'ta borrowed.
Milwaukee Phil is coming tomorrow.
Oh, sorrow!
You shouldn'ta borrowed.
Milwaukee Phil is coming for ya.
Oh, sin!
Your horse didn't win, again.
Milwaukee Phil and a bat upside the--
Oh, sorrow!
You shouldn'ta borrowed.
Milwaukee Phil is coming for you.

Haunted Man Blues

Well, I'm an old black raven sittin' on a barbed wire,
Rattlesnake nest giving birth beneath a campfire.
Spit out blood, roll up my sleeves, go ahead and
Hit me as hard as you doggone please, my friend.
But I'm a haunted man.
Well, I'm haunted by things that haven't happened yet,
and I'm haunted by those awful things I never shoulda said,
Haunted by these women that I don't even know,
If you leave me tonight, I'll be haunted when you go, baby.
I'm a haunted man.
Ever since I was born on The Day Of The Dead
I've been hearing all these ghostly voices
Singing in my head.
Just can't seem to make 'em leave me alone,
and now I'm singing this song-
About a dirty black raptor feasting on sweetbread,
Dead leaves piled up over by the old shed.
The hounds of Anubis are howling at me,
But I'm keepin' 'em at bay with my skeleton key, oh yeah
I'm a haunted man. All right!
Ever since I was born on The Day Of The Dead
I've been hearing all these ghostly voices
Singing in my head
Just can't seem to make 'em leave me alone,
and I'm still singing this song
About an old black raven sittin' on a barbed wire,
Rattlesnake nest giving birth beneath a campfire,
Spit out blood, Roll up my sleeves,
Go ahead and hit me as hard as you goddamn please,
Woman.
But I'm a haunted man.

Goodbye To Two Hearts
04:26
|

I once had a good friend, but I fear that I'll never see her again. She no longer wants me. Our infected romance proceeded to end. Ill fated lovers- Losing your best friend just isn't right. But how can I watch you go home to somebody else at the end of the night? So it's goodbye to two hearts. Will I wander alone the rest of my drunken (lonesome) days. We were star crossed sweethearts. On the dew covered bank by the river we lay. And oh, how they missed each other, closer than sister and brother were they then. What's more tragic than leaving your lover is losing your friend. And baby, we were friends. Now I'm alone in this dark night. And I can't help but wonder, did you ever really understand my love? If we were friends, why am I alone in this dark night. I can't help but wonder, did you ever really understand my love. Well, I can't help but wonder...
